Travel to Türkiye & COVID-19 TABEF Advice

With the business world resetting in the aftermath of the pandemic, decision makers, ministers, high level representatives of banks and financial institutions, heads of business organizations and chambers, entrepreneurs, investors, producers and CEOs of Turkish and African companies will meet once again to do business in person during Türkiye-Africa III. Economic and Business Forum (TABEF), taking place on 21-22 October 2021 in Istanbul.

Turkish Visa

Please apply for your Turkish visa at Consular Section in Turkish Embassies (click here to see contact details of the diplomatic mission in your country/accredited to your country) with the invitation letter that the participants will receive as confirmation e-mail after online registration.

African citizens, travelling to Türkiye by Turkish Airlines and holding a valid Schengen/USA/UK visa, can obtain their entry visas to Türkiye at Istanbul Airport.

Accommodation

All attendees (except purchasing delegations) are responsible for their own lodging and travel arrangements.

COVID-19 FAQs
  • All international attendees are expected to submit the documents/certificates issued by WHO (World Health Organization) or Turkish Ministry of Health at the first point of departure that they have been administered minimum two doses of vaccine (one dose for Johnson and Johnson) within minimum 14 days before entering Türkiye or have had COVID-19 disease within the last six months starting from the 28th day of the first PCR test with positive result. These passengers shall not be required to submit a PCR/rapid antigen test report with negative result and quarantine measures shall not be applied for them.
  • In case of failure to submit a vaccination certificate or documents indicating that the passenger had COVID-19 disease, it shall be deemed adequate to submit a PCR test with negative result taken within maximum 72 hours before entry or the negative rapid antigen test result taken within maximum 48 hours before entry.
  • Passengers arriving into Türkiye may be subject to a random PCR test at their final destination in Türkiye.
  • A completed “Traveler Entry Form” (A printout copy or mobile screenshot of the completed form) within 72 hours prior to the flight must be presented at check-in and upon arrival. The form can be obtained at http://register.health.gov.tr.
  • It is obligatory for all passengers to wear masks at the airports and during the flights.
  • The government of Türkiye has updated their website with the list of facilities in Türkiye that perform COVID-19 tests. 
  • If you need to take PCR test before returning home, PCR testing is available at Istanbul Airport. There is no need for an appointment to visit the airport’s testing center, as it is open 24 hours a day and seven days a week. The testing center is in front of Entrance 14 in Arrivals Hall. The test fee is 250 TL or about $35 for all ages. You must arrive at the airport at least 6 hours prior to your flight with a valid ticket and a valid passport, test results take up to 5 hours.
  • All leisure and culture destinations are open for visitors while taking all precautionary measures such as wearing face masks, maintaining hand hygiene, applying physical distancing and avoiding gatherings.

In response to COVID-19, TABEF will have in place enhanced measures which will provide the reassurance and safety of all our attendees and staff.

Turkish participants are required to present proof of a negative PCR test taken 24 hours prior to event start date. The Turkish Ministry of Health releases Türkiye’s daily vaccination and COVID-19 numbers at https://covid19.saglik.gov.tr/.

The participants from African countries are required to have PCR test taken 24 hours prior to event start date and HES code (click here. to take the code).
